Slow but steady

Hello Everyone :)

This week was a little slow because my companion has been feeling under the weather and so we stayed inside a lot. We still got to teach some lessons though so we were really blessed!

We got in to see the Torres family three times this week and Brother Torres is so great. He wants so much for his children and he cares for their future and wants the best for them. He can already see how the world has affected them and how they need to be around good influences. It makes me laugh because Sister Torres even talks about how if they are baptized they will behave better. haha I just love them. But even though we saw them three times this week and had good lessons, they didn't make it to church and that was kind of hard. It is hard to care so much about a family and see them not progress! It is ok though because they are solid and their desires are pure so you better believe that they will get an answer or gain a testimony of this gospel!

A sister in our ward is so good at doing missionary work. She shares the gospel with her coworkers and she has set up appts. for us to teach them! We have one tonight and I am super excited. Most of her coworkers do not live in our area and we have to pass them on, but she is doing so great :) Changing peoples lives left and right :)

Everyone! I love you and I hope that you are doing well! Stay warm!

Happy Presidents Day!!

I guess here in Oklahoma they care about MLK day but they dont give a hoot about Presidents Day....Merica. (She said this because the library was open as usual today for her to get online, but it was closed on Martin Luther King Day)

We went to the temple this week and we had the chance to watch the newest film! I have never felt the spirit so strong in the temple. There were parts that just really stood out to me in the film and how things were portrayed. Thank goodness for new films! haha I am so grateful that we got to go! But now we have to wait another 6 months to go again! haha dangit!

The weather has been super nice this week so we have done a lot of walking! People like to honk at us and yell stuff at us and honestly it makes my day even when it is not nice! haha but the best part is one day we were walking and we were pretty far away from home and then Sister Tutasi told me that she needed to go to the bathroom...well I didn't know what to do because there were no members close and she refused to go in the construction workers port-o-potty! haha so good thing the elders came and saved the day with the car and took us home! haha she is great! she won't ever know that I told you all and that is the best part! haha

Church yesterday was really great the Torres family came and the speakers did a wonderful job. They spoke a lot about how we need to have strong families and the importance of raising children in the gospel. I think that is so true because the world is getting scarier and scarier and I didn't realize it before I came out on my mission. I am grateful for the gospel and the peace it brings!

I love you all, have a great week!

"many mighty miracles have been wrought in this land"

Hello!!
This week was wonderful! Getting a new companion is crazy for the first little bit, but we have been getting down to business and we have had a wonderful week :) We had the opportunity to set TWO baptismal dates! YA!!! Crazy. It was wonderful because the Elders are also seeing miracles as well and by golly the 3rd ward needs it! haha
We set dates with Martin and Justin in March and they are so great! Justin said that he will come to church, read, and pray until the 29th for his answer! What a stud! And then our lesson with Martin this week was great! We were going to teach him about the plan of happiness but he had questions about tithing. He thought that the prophet was just a rich man that was getting paid to sit at the head of the church. After he was done going over his problems, we told him that we have no paid ministry and that tithing goes to building and maintaining church buildings and also to the missionary program. He was just impressed and that is when we committed him to be baptized. It was just a wonderful lesson.
Sister Tutasi is from Taylorsville, Utah and she is 24 years old. This is her fourth transfer and we get along great. She reminds me of my good ol' pal Megan Bradshaw! haha it is the best :) She went to beauty school before her mission so you better believe that she will be giving this shaggy sister missionary a hair cut!
This week has been great :) Thank you for all of your prayers :)

Staying a 4th in the 3rd ward!

Hello Everyone:)

I get the wonderful opportunity to stay in the 3rd ward :) And there will wonderful miracles to come :) Sister Neff is leaving to Stillwater and going to serve on campus so that will be great for her! The campus up there is so pretty and I hear that it is a wonderful area to serve! My new companion is Sister Tutuasi and I have seen her around a little bit but it will be great to get to know her :)

This past week was a little slow, but it is ok because this coming week should pick right back up! We have set appointments and those things are the best! Being busy is the best! haha we had a wonderful appointment with a former investigator, Denise, on Saturday and she is just so sweet :) we taught her the Plan of Salvation and it really meant a lot to her because she wants her daughters to be raised Christian but her husband is Muslim and that is really hard for her. She is just a great mother and she is trying to do her best :)

One thing that Denise said to me was that she has "angels". I agree. I know that people are put into our lives for a reason :) Different people have really helped me out when I really needed it and I am very grateful for those people, and I would refer to them as angels :) Denise was really emotional about her angels and it just made me think about how Heavenly Father really loves us and He won't ever leave us alone :)

I hope you all have a great week :) Be grateful for snowplows because they don't believe in them here and so the roads are ice skating rinks :)

I LOVE YOU ALL :)

peace and blessings,

Love, Alisha
